Having curly hair can be fun. You can rock different styles, you have a lot of texture, and you are blessed with natural volume. However, to every pro there is a con. You have probably have to deal with frizz, dryness, and breakage more so than someone with straight hair. That is just part of having curls. If you are struggling with maintaining your curly hair that is ok and why we are here. Today we are going to give you some tips on how to maintain your curls!

First, try shampooing less. This might sound gross but people with curly hair tend to have locks on the drier side. You do not need to wash your hair as often as others with straight hair. If you have curly hair there really is no need to wash your hair more than two to three times a week. Curls are usually very tight and washing two to three times a week will not show excessive oil.

You should also be using the right shampoos and conditioners. If you have curls you should look for shampoos and conditioners that will moisturize and fight frizz. There are actually curl shampoos and curl conditioners that give lightweight moisture and reinforce the structure of your curls and waves. If your frizz is really bad, the answer could very well be simply switching to a shampoo or a conditioner that is made to handle frizzy hair.

Last but not least, maintain your curls by using the right tools. Try a microfiber cloth instead of a cotton towel when you hop out of the shower. When you detangle use a wide-tooth comb and stay away from traditional brushes. Remember your curls are fragile and how you handle it makes a difference.

Having curly hair can be fun but we also know it can be frustrating. Use these tips to make some adjustments and you will be on your way to better curls! For more information on curly hair please feel free to contact or visit us here at The Headgame!
