You’ve just gotten a haircut and of course it’s going to look great day of. But how do you keep it looking great until your next visit? That’s why we’re here today. We’re going to give you tips on how to maintain a great haircut.

This is going to sound super simple but the impact will go a long way. One of the easiest things you can do to maintain your haircut is to use the right tool. We know it sounds ridiculous but hear us out. Standard combs work best for straight hair, creating parts, and styling. Don’t use a standard comb if you have thick, wavy, or curly hair types. For those hair types you’ll want to use a wide-toothed comb to untangle hair and help distribute hair products thoroughly. And let’s not forget about hair brushes. Yes, hair brushes are for guys too! Hair brushes are best used to detangle and add volume to fine, straight, and long hair. Find and use the right tool to keep your haircut looking sharp at all times.

Proper blow drying is also a great way to help maintain your haircut. To properly blow dry begin by applying a heat protectant and combing your hair into place. Oil, serum, or spray that prevents damage are good products to use to protect your hair from the heat. Then you’ll want to brush and blow. Using a vented or round brush, pull sections of your hair up and out from your head and apply the air. For additional volume, you can blow dry in the opposite direction and blast the roots. For side part hairstyles, blow against the direction that hair is parted in for the same result. Finally, when your hair is fully dry and where you want it, set the look with a couple minutes of cool air. You can add some product at the end for an extra long hold.

Lastly, this is something we talk about quite often but only because it’s important. Please use healthy products on your hair. If you’re using products full of chemicals and harmful ingredients, this will only damage your hair. And how can you maintain a great haircut with damaged hair? As a reminder stay away from toxic ingredients like sulfates, parabens, and phthalates. If you see these ingredients on the bottle of your hair products, please consider choosing a different option.

We want your haircut to look great for as long as possible. The best ways to keep that great look is to use the right tools, blow dry properly, and stay away from harmful ingredients.
